Bees Knees was an initiative set up to give something back to all the hardworking members in Oncology.
The chemotherapy day unit, currently treats approx. 600 patients a week and it just keeps getting busier. So this was organised to say thank you to the staff who go above and beyond their role 👏👏
Each month the teams nominate staff and whomever has the most votes, wins a £50 voucher from the sponsorship of local companies or individuals. The voucher would go towards something they may not usually treat themselves to, be that an afternoon tea, massage or experience.
The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust has the fourth largest cancer centre in England and the radiotherapy department provides treatment to cancer patients using cutting edge technology.
They were amongst the first within the NHS to use surface guided radiotherapy, they are also the very first in the UK to use advanced imaging to further improve treatment accuracy.
The team is made up of therapeutic radiographers, medical physicists, administration staff, apprentices, departmental assistants and students. Staff are always striving to improve patient care, including raising funds and the team recently did a charity skydive for the hospital.
With most of us knowing either friends or family who have had to deal with cancer, we thought this was a great idea and jumped at the chance to help out.
